Super nice hut

More than 200 mountain goats and sheep spend the summer in the alpine pastures. While the older animals are already climbing around in the rocks in large groups, the young animals are still close to the alpine pastures. Until mid-June, the farmers also bring their heifers, i.e. the young cows, up there.

The Faltmartal is a special place to experience silence and discover plants and animals in the rocky landscape - especially in early summer. A simple farm track leads steeply uphill to the Faltmaralm, where boss Birgit serves delicious alpine dishes. We have to go here on every vacation.

Hello everyone, we walked from the Rableid Alm to the Stettiner Hütte on July 12th, 2024 in pouring rain and thunderstorms. After we arrived at the first plateau, we walked the rest of the way up over snow fields without knowing where we were going - about 5 degrees outside temperature - Nevertheless, we arrived safely at the Stettiner Hütte. We spent the night there and were very sad about what was on offer up there... 50 cents for a 30-second shower is a disgrace. The shared rooms are like chickens on a perch... 1 shower and 1 toilet for the whole floor... and the breakfast the next morning... incredibly little and one-sided... Conclusion: never again...tourist rip-off

Start at the photo downhill here for an amazing downhill cruise of 20 Mins or so. Great switchbacks and minimal traffic. Gorgeous scenery and great pizza at the end

Perfect for a stop, from here the forest road/hiking trail continues. In May it can still be quite cool and there can be snow.

It was pretty steep and unfortunately there was unexpectedly a lot of traffic (okay, on a Sunday), but it was beautiful and definitely worth it.
