The Bolter Canal in the Müritz National Park, on the southeastern shore of Lake Müritz, was constructed between 1832 and 1837 as part of a navigable waterway connecting Lake Müritz and Lake Leppin to the Havel River. Today, the canal is largely no longer navigable, but it forms part of the extensive lake and floodplain landscape of the national park. Paths around the Bolter Canal are ideal for cycling, and there are opportunities for canoeing as well as tourist attractions such as the natural harbor.

The Bolter Canal formerly formed the navigable connection from Lake Müritz to the waters of the Kleinseenplatte (Little Lake District). This waterway was known as the "Alte Fahrt" (Old Route). Today, this spot is a portage point for paddlers and a popular nature spot.

It's beautiful in both directions in every season. In autumn and winter, it's sometimes covered in leaves and snow because it's not cleared.
