The church was built as part of the expansion of the castle complex under Duke (later Grand Duke) Carl II of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1741–1816). Hohenzieritz Castle served him as a summer residence and was developed into a prestigious estate from the 1770s onwards, including an English landscape park (one of the oldest on the continent).

The memorial to the victims of fascism in Neustrelitz at Marienstraße / Friedrich-Wilhelm-Straße near the train station was erected in 1949 and is a listed building. The memorial was erected in 1949 as a square, 20-meter-high obelisk made of hard-fired dark bricks, with a metal spike and standing on a stepped square base. It was inaugurated on September 11, 1949. In a pointed-arch niche is a plaque bearing the inscription: "TO THE VICTIMS OF FASCISM." The plaque had to be replaced in 1997 after being destroyed. The Glambecker See is also affectionately called "Glammi" by the locals, and you can walk around it.

Really nice to look at from the outside. Unfortunately I can't say anything about the inside.
