We have been camping here several times. You can also swim in the lake as a day guest and the restaurant can also be used without visiting the lake. The place is highly recommended for camping, especially with children. The lake is not deep and there are numerous offers for children, such as playgrounds, rental of various vehicles, mini golf,… Unfortunately, dogs are prohibited.

General information about the Dortmund-Ems Canal (DEK) and the DEK Cycle Path The DEK runs between Dortmund's city harbor and Papenburg through the federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony, passing the "Henrichenburg" ship lift and the larger cities of Münster, Rheine, Lingen, and Meppen. It was opened in 1899 and is approximately 225 kilometers long. The elevation gain is approximately 70 meters, and there are three river crossings – the Lippe, Stever, and Ems. The canal can be crossed via numerous bridges. Rest areas and small city harbors are always found along the canal. The Dortmund-Ems Canal Cycle Path runs mostly directly along the canal, or later along the Ems, and is approximately 350 kilometers long. It connects the Ruhr region with the North Sea coast (Emden) and was opened in 1999. Along the canal, the route is almost flat, with a few interruptions, such as power plants. The trail is mostly gravel and partially paved, making it easy to navigate even in rainy weather. Thanks to the numerous stopping points and overnight accommodations, it's ideal for both day and multi-day hikes.
