The lighthouse in Pilsum is probably the most famous landmark in East Frisia. The yellow and red striped lighthouse from the 19th century can be seen from afar. Since 2004, East Frisia lovers have been able to get married here in a civil ceremony. Pure romance in an unmistakable natural landscape. The small yellow and red Pilsum lighthouse was built in 1988 and is considered a landmark of the Krummhörn - Greetsiel holiday region. The lighthouse is around 11 m high and has 28 steps leading to the top. The tower became a "main character" in the backdrop of Otto Waalkes' famous film.

A trip here should simply be part of a holiday in East Friesland ... even for non-Otto fans. ;)

+++ Of course you can sit down in the grass here and enjoy the view of the lighthouse and coast with a nice East Frisian tea that you brought with you... that's how we did it after a nice walk from the twin mills here.

Who does not know it, the well-known small approx. 11m high Pilsum lighthouse from the 19th century - also known by Otto Waalkes. The navigation mark, which is no longer in operation today - hence the non-typical yellow-red color - is now a popular excursion destination. There is also the possibility of entering into a marriage bond inside.

If you are ever in the area, the lighthouse should be a must. At the same time, you can observe many species of birds from here and of course go on long hikes. The parking lot not far from the lighthouse is quite small, parking for an hour costs one euro, which I think is okay, even a fish snack is available for the small appetite😋. The toilets were broken at our time and therefore closed!

Always nice there and fun for young and old because there is a lot to discover! Great view, a ruined castle, the cable car and of course the HWN stamp box. Oh...you don't have to starve up here either!
