On the Dommel River, between Nuenen and Eindhoven, lies the Opwetten Watermill. This mill has a long history: it was mentioned as early as the 11th century, and for centuries, no fewer than three wheels turned simultaneously – making it the largest watermill in the Netherlands at one time. The mill played an important role in the region, both economically and for its landscape. Today, it is a protected monument and a popular stop on walks and bike rides. From the mill, you can look out over the water and the surrounding meadows, where herons, ducks, and other waterfowl can be found. The Opwetten Watermill was also immortalized by Vincent van Gogh, who drew and painted it several times while living in Nuenen. This makes it not only a place of technology and nature, but also of art and culture.

At the DAF Museum, you'll be amazed by everything. The ingenuity that characterizes DAF vehicles, from 1928 to the present, will captivate even the most inexperienced visitor. https://www.dafmuseum.nl/

Eindhoven is a busy city with lots of new buildings due to the destruction in WW2. But when leaving you happen on this magnificent canal ride first starting with a tree lined route. It was one of our favourite days. Keep an eye on your navigation because the route takes you on the LHS - RHS - back and forth. It’s easy to miss because you are distracted.

Not exactly a highlight, but it's a pleasant and scenic bike path through the TU Eindhoven campus. It's often busy, of course, due to the many students and cyclists who use this section. There are also plenty of nice spots to take a break, and the Dommel River flows through this area; canoe trips are regularly organized from this point. It's not the prettiest stretch of the Dommel, but you can canoe beautifully all the way to Nederwetten.

Nice piece of old school technology, nothing more to do than maintain it well.

I don't know what it's supposed to be but I've never seen it move despite the cylinders. It looks like wings but I think it's worth more for scrap metal
