풍부한 역사를 지닌 놀랍도록 아름답고 아늑한 마을입니다.

탑의 윗부분(꼭대기 첨탑 지붕)은 1896년 낙뢰로 소실되었습니다. Pierre Cuypers는 1897년에 건축된 새로운 첨탑을 설계했습니다. 당시 신부의 의뢰로 Cuypers는 같은 해에 중앙 제단과 모자이크 바닥도 설계했습니다. 1936년 교회 앞뜰에는 Wim Harzing이 만든 성심상이 세워졌습니다.

The bridge over the Aa River on this route is located in the stream valley east of Erp and connects the farmland and hiking trails along the river. The Aa is one of the most important streams in East Brabant and played a major role in drainage, agriculture, and land reclamation for centuries. This section of the Aa was canalized in the 20th century to limit flooding, with several bridges being built for local traffic and later also for recreational use. The bridge marks a transition between open grasslands and farmland and offers a view of the wide stream valley, where the water level can still fluctuate significantly depending on rainfall and the season. The location is typical of the Brabant stream valley landscape: functionally designed, yet integrated into the landscape, and now primarily used by hikers and cyclists.

Gemert Castle is one of the village's most striking historical buildings. The complex dates back to the 13th century and was owned for centuries by the Teutonic Order, which had its commandery here. Because of this long history, you'll find a mix of architectural styles on the grounds: medieval elements, an impressive gateway, later residential wings, and a moat that encircles the entire complex. The castle itself is not freely accessible, but from the road and surrounding paths, you have a beautiful view of the walls, towers, and gatehouse. The surrounding area is charming, with old tree-lined avenues, water features, and historic outbuildings that complete the setting. It's a pleasant place for walkers to stop and take a photo or soak up the tranquil atmosphere around the moat.

The path has been raised with fresh gravel. Great! It's more passable, and the wet sections are now nice and dry.

The castle is currently being renovated. A 5-star Hilton hotel is being built. There will be apartments for sale (starting at €1 million). The restaurant GEM, featuring Michelin-starred chef Soenil Bahadoer, recently opened. Everything is expected to be completed by the end of next year.
