Impressive and worth seeing at the same time

Rügen is a German island in the Baltic Sea. The island is famous for its beaches and white chalk cliffs, including the Königsstuhl on the Jasmund peninsula. On the cliff there is a viewing platform and a visitor center with exhibitions on Rügen's nature. The Königsstuhl is part of the Jasmund National Park, where you can find pristine beech forests and the sea eagle. The submarine HMS Otus, which now houses a museum, is located in the nearby seaside resort of Sassnitz.

Germany's largest cable-stayed bridge connects Rügen with the mainland and its pylon-like structure rises prominently above the Strelasund. The imposing structure, with a height of 127.75 meters, has become a landmark of Stralsund and can carry up to 30,000 vehicles a day.

Always a colorful mix of historical buildings, water, quay walls, cranes, lifting bridges and new things - here the bright, curved parts of the Oceanarium. The latter is definitely worth a visit ❣️ Here, many connections are conveyed regarding the sea and its inhabitants and ecology. Equally interesting for young and old ❣️

Around the harbor, the historic warehouse buildings, old railway tracks with drawbridges, restaurants, and leisure boats are always worth a visit. The Oceanarium located there also offers a lot of knowledge about the sea for all generations.

After cycling from Greifswald after lunch, we arrived at Stralsund harbor at around 5 p.m., completely relaxed. We had an excellent meal with a view of the sea. We saw people coming excitedly out of the Oceanarium and ate GDR soft ice cream 🍦 with strawberries 🍓❣️ by the long river. On our way to the train station, we admired the very well-kept houses, the impressively large St. Mary's Church and the large pond with a fountain. Everything bathed in beautiful, warm evening sun colors.
