The Ueckermünde Zoo is known far beyond the borders of the Vorpommern-Greifswald district. The facility was founded in 1962 and has continued to develop since then. What began as a local aquarium with a few additional native animals is now impressive. The church is an elongated plastered building with a southern and northern porch, which was consecrated in 1766. In 1866, a neo-Gothic, richly structured west tower made of brick was added. The old ducal palace had its origins in a castle (probably from the 12th century). The palace was built on its remains. It used to have four wings and later served as a meeting place for the Pomeranian state parliament. Duke Philipp built a new palace in 1546; the tower and south wing of this remain.
