The grounds are beautifully spacious; when we arrived, the pigs were being watered and were wallowing happily in the mud. Many other animals can be encountered while wandering around the grounds: colorful peacocks, geese, ducks, chickens, roosters, fallow deer, donkeys, rabbits, goats, and the Harz Red Mountain Cattle. There is a display stable, but it was mostly empty, as the cows were in the paddock.

Perhaps a nice splash of color when photographing, but at what cost? A large area was permanently sealed, depriving the residents of Holungen of their view.
