At Lindewerra, the Werra River meanders peacefully through the valley, surrounded by wooded hills and picturesque half-timbered villages. From the banks or the bridge, you have a magnificent view of the water and the landscape. An ideal place to pause, breathe, and enjoy the tranquility of the border valley.

The picturesque village of Lindewerra lies directly on the Werra River and is known for its beautiful half-timbered houses. Until 1989, it was literally on the edge of the world: the Inner German border ran right through the village. Today, Lindewerra is an idyllic place to take a break, admire the old bridge, and enjoy the peace and quiet and nature surrounding the river.

The Salt Museum presents information in chronological order about the brine springs (salt wells), salt production, and the transport of the "white gold" along the old salt roads. Opening hours are usually Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The museum is closed on Wednesdays from October 1 to March 31. (As of 2025)
