Not far from the Lintbos parking lot stands a wooden sculpture of a kingfisher. The kingfisher is a cherished neighbor of Grimbergen. The "Cherish Neighbors" project is an initiative of the province of Flemish Brabant, in collaboration with the Brabantse Kouters Regional Landscape and the municipality, aimed at protecting local biodiversity. The goal is to "cherish" specific animal and plant species native to the municipality and protect their habitats from fragmentation.

There is a play area and picnic table near the parking lot.

Hof te Poddegem is the oldest known farmstead in Grimbergen. The origins of this medieval fortified farm date back to a 5th-century Frankish domain. 'Poddegem' literally means 'the home of the people of Pud'. In the 13th century, Hof te Poddegem was mentioned as a fief of the Prince of Grimbergen. (Wikipedia)

A church with a wooden tower dates back to the 11th century. Construction began in the 13th century on a stone church, which was modified and expanded primarily in the 15th and 17th centuries. The church was significantly enlarged in 1655 with the support of Count Eugeen de Berghe, Lord of Sint-Brixius-Rode (see the coat of arms on the west facade). When the church became very dilapidated at the end of the 19th century, urgent repairs were necessary. Between 1907 and 1908, the church underwent a thorough renovation in the Neo-Gothic style, carried out according to plans by architect F. Symons (1869-1942). Hidden in the green Maalbeek valley lies the Hof te Poddegem, a former moated castle with an impressive 14th century keep – the smallest square residential tower in Flanders! The medieval site with remains of ramparts, a gate tower and old farm buildings breathes history, from Frankish origins to status symbol of local lords.
