サイクリストにとって、これは短くも印象的な瞬間です。リフトで上がり、橋を渡り、反対側で再びリフトで下ります。垂直方向の動きが、ライドのリズムを一時的に中断させます。この橋はヴィルフォールデの高架橋のすぐ後ろにあり、広大なインフラの景観の中で、小さくも目を引く存在となっています。この名前は、4月にヴィルフォールデの上空に帰ってくるアマツバメの一種であるツバメ、そしてフレデリック・ヴァンクローターのトーテム名「面白いツバメ」に由来しており、この作品に個人的な深みを与えています。

Hof te Poddegem is the oldest known farmstead in Grimbergen. The origins of this medieval fortified farm date back to a 5th-century Frankish domain. The bridge disappears into nothingness compared to the gigantic viaduct of Vilvoorde.

Hidden in the green Maalbeek valley lies the Hof te Poddegem, a former moated castle with an impressive 14th century keep – the smallest square residential tower in Flanders! The medieval site with remains of ramparts, a gate tower and old farm buildings breathes history, from Frankish origins to status symbol of local lords.

In 1551, Pieter van Meerbeke became the owner of the Groot Hof, which was located opposite the village church. The castle of Meerbeek, also called Klein Hof, was dependent on the Groot Hof. The estate, designated as a castle in 1718, was depicted for the first time in that year. In 1767, a new castle was built with, among other things, stepped gables. Around 1890, a renovation was carried out on behalf of Albert Snoy, based on a design by Adhémar Collès. The farmyard buildings were also changed. In 1944, the castle was set on fire by the retreating German occupiers. The castle was not rebuilt by Guillaume Snoy. He had the farmyard buildings converted into living quarters, for which purpose the main wing was extended and the whole was given the plan of the letter F. All this was done in white sandstone. Four corner towers of the former castle are still present. These were possibly built around 1500. The facade stone with the motto Love and Faith comes from the former castle. In 1985, a golf club also came to the castle and in 1987, part of the castle park was transformed into a golf course, which also extended over the nearby agricultural lands.
