Built from 1960 to 1972 part of the Main-Danube Canal (MDK) runs from Fürth mainly as a side channel of the Regnitz, but used between Hausen and Neuses on nearly ten kilometers in length, the riverbed of the impounded Regnitz with the barrage Forchheim.
