In Hückeswagen the Bevertalsperre is idyllically embedded in the Bergisches landscape. Today it largely serves the purpose of low water elevation and the flood protection of the Wupper. It is very popular among water sports enthusiasts and invites you to swim in numerous small bays, official bathing areas with snack and toilets are located at the "angry ant", at campsite I and II and the Käfernberg.

Guided tours of the dam are also available by appointment (usually Mondays - Thursdays between 9am - 2pm). A diving school, boat rental and a school for pleasure boaters, as well as several hiking trails complete the leisure offer.

The dam was originally built in 1898 with an Inze dam, in 1938 expanded to the 10-fold volume with a Steinschüttdamm. Einzugegebiet about 25 sq km, annual inflow about 21 million cbm, volume 23 Miol. cbm. The dam serves the flood protection, the minimum water supply of the Wupper and today the tourism.
