Nestled in a magical ensemble of monuments, the Sonneberg City Park is the green counterpart to the Wilhelminian architecture in the northwest of the city. Its design is typical of the 19th century, when it was created as a private public park for a Sonneberg toy entrepreneur. Many of the large, special trees and the historic fence with the striking entrance portal date back to the park's early days and give it its very special charm. In recent decades, trees, bushes and flowering areas have been carefully added based on historical principles and interlinked with modern elements.
