Rocks are rare north of the Alps, which is why climbing and via ferratas are often practiced in quarries. In the middle of the Thuringian Forest, on the outskirts of Steinach, you will find a top-class quarry ferrata. In contrast to other Ferratas in the middle of Germany, this via ferrata is really long! In the so-called climbing garden on Blocksberg, three different variants were built by the DAV, which result in a beautiful round tour. As a little highlight there is even a real summit cross with Steigbuch and Tibet. Prayer flags. A good via ferrata tour, which is a bit below the southern flatland via ferratas (Höhenglücksteig, Norissteig and Oberland blau) - still worthwhile!
