St. John's Church is an early Gothic three-aisled hall church.
The high, light-flooded interior is particularly worth seeing.
The church was consecrated in 1292.
The church was extensively renovated in the mid-1960s.
The collegiate foundation of St. John was founded in 1011 by Bishop Thietmar of Osnabrück (1003-23) as the city's second spiritual center, with a school, as a priestly educational institution. It was considered the first such institution by an Osnabrück bishop, who had had his own parish rights since 1147.
The Osnabrück New Town developed around it, which was administered separately from the old town until 1306.
The church has also been a parish church since 1447.
After 1803 and the subsequent dissolution of the chapter, it is considered the parish church of St. John.
The adoration chapel was donated by the von Bar family in the 14th century as a burial chapel.osnabruecker-land.de/erlebnisse/st-johann
