A powerful powerhouse who stands here in the center of Altenbeken. The freight locomotive 044 stands as a monument in the center. Until 1976, the locomotive pulled particularly heavy freight trains over the Altenbekener viaduct, which lies directly in front of the village. As a reminder of the steam locomotive, which has influenced Altenbeken significantly, it is now finely restored in the center. Just like the viaduct, thanks to many donations, the locomotive shines in bright light all night long.
