This is one of my favorite routes on the Lower Rhine. There is always something to see in nature along the way. There are three cafés and restaurants on the route for a leisurely break.

In the vicinity of the Auen Cafe, take the turnoff to the "Vogelparadies Bislicher Insel". Drive to the end and back again.

About halfway between Rheinberg and Xanten is the old railway bridge Wesel.

This section, from Xanten to Wesel, is not missing on any bike tour when we start from Kempen to Xanten. Summer and winter, always passable. great

The Rheinaue between Wesel and Xanten is well suited for a small bike tour, since it offers a lot of nature and hardly any gradients.

A beautiful and varied route through a picturesque landscape.
For stressed city dwellers, this piece of earth looks like you're on vacation.
    Especially to see
The remains of the old Wesel railway bridge, which was completed in 1874 and blown up by German soldiers in 1945, are also worthwhile.

Lower Rhine at its finest! In appropriate seasons apples, plums, walnuts for small money are offered along the way.

  • I want to ride my bicycle 🚴‍♀️

If you want to refresh your feet in the Rhine, you can use the Panzerstraße between the television tower and the village of Perrich. This is crossed by the bike path.
If you drive inland on Panzerstraße, you come to a water playground (closed in the evening and at night). There is also the opportunity to take a break and shelter.

That's our home track. From Alpen-Veen to Büderich, then continue along the Rhine to Bislicher Insel and then to the Rhine ferry.
Then the old Rhine Arm back to Veen. Always relaxing.

When I drive along the Rhine, this part of the cycle path is always part of it. A detour to Bislicher Island is also worthwhile.

The section shown here is really very beautiful and easy to navigate. There is a nature reserve, meadows with water birds (including storks), the Rhine, the old railway bridge and the new Lower Rhine bridge.
