Evangelical church completed in 1897 and named in honor of King Gustav Adolf II

One of Helsingborg's main attractions is the church of Gustav Adolf, which at first sight is inconspicuous.
The idea of building a new church in Helsingborg began in the late 19th century, when the south of Sweden was actively developing and expanding its cities. For the selection of the architect a special competition was held, which was won by Gustav Hermanssons, who also designed Gustav Adolfs church in Sundsvall.
After the completion of the construction in 1897, the cathedral was named in honor of the Swedish king Gustav II Adolf, who ruled 1611-32.
The temple is built in Neo-Gothic style and is a single-nave cross-shaped church with a 67 meter narrow tower. The red brick facade is adorned with large stained-glass windows that are typical of Neo-Gothic. The roof is covered with slate, and the tower is covered with copper.

The interior of the church is also of great interest to tourists. The walls and ceilings are whitewashed, the columns are covered with real bricks, the floor is decorated with Victorian plates. Above the main entrance rises a large organ.
