It's a terrace overlooking Florence; the road leading up to Fiesole offers a magnificent, uninterrupted panorama. The city of Fiesole is much older than Florence, and its origins are Etruscan, if not even older. To conquer it, the Romans settled on the banks of the Arno, where Florence stands today. But conquering the city was far from easy.
