From the 571-foot (174 m) summit of Overton Hill, you are afforded a magnificent view of the rolling landscape. You can also observe several round barrow burial mounds on the hill, which date to the Iron Age. The Ridgeway National Trail begins its 87-mile (139 km) journey from here.

The beginning of the Ridgeway is a slow tough drag with views opening up to your left not that you can rally appreciate them as you'll be busy picking your line through the ruts & walkers. Well worth it though and it widens up and becomes a nice gravel track after around 3 miles
