The Alb plateau north of Geislingen an der Steige is called Tegelberg. The Kuhfels vantage point is located on the edge of the Tegelberg above the Fils valley between Geislingen/Steige and the municipality of Cake. From there you can see a section of the Fils Valley between Geislingen/Fils and Gingen/Fils and its surrounding mountains.
The Kuhfels and the Alb plateau, which directly borders the rock, are designated as natural monuments. The natural monument has an area of 1.1 hectares and was decreed in 1984. The Kuhfels is also a geotope. The rock consists of rocks from the Weißjura epsilon.
