      The Samson Fountain is the most famous and highest fountain in Peterhof. It is an allegory of the decisive victory over the Swedes in the Battle of Poltava (Nordic War).

      The statue shows Samson (Russia), who tears open the slain lion (Sweden). From the mouth shoots a more than 20 meters high water jet. However, the statue is a replica - the original was dismantled in 1944 by the German Wehrmacht and deported.
