The garden park Peterhof has a direct connection to the Baltic Sea via the so-called "sea channel". It is located in the middle of the large cascade and thus divides the park into a west and east side.
About this channel - dead straight and about 400 meters long - had the Zar formerly direct access to the sea and could travel by ship to and from St. Petersburg.
