The following legend is told about the Nagold spring: A noble lady once got lost in the area around Altensteig. She came to the source of the Nagold, which the noble lady called "Irre Nagold" (Irrous Nagold) precisely because she had gotten lost there. Incidentally, this is also the name of the hamlet at the source of the river, which is now referred to as Urnagold. At the Nagold spring is a small raised reservoir bearing the year 1888, which originally served to supply the community of Besenfeld via an iron pipeline.

The source version from 1888 was once the water supply of Besenfeld. Today, most of the wells in town are still fed with this water.

The "Nagoldquelle" (spring of the Nagold River) is located near Urnagold (a district/hamlet of the municipality of Seewald) in the Freudenstadt district of Baden-Württemberg.
- This spring is the source of the approximately 90 km long Nagold River, which was once very important for timber transport during the rafting era.
- With the exception of the spring, the place is not particularly spectacular or attractive, but for those interested in the "sources" of our rivers, it has its charm.
