Boossen was founded in the course of a wave of colonization (Ascanians) in the first half of the 13th century. The newly settled farmers were obliged to bring the field stones collected in the fields up to the mountain. Boossen's first church was built there in 1250. It has been rebuilt over the centuries after being severely damaged. It received the last version in 1961 and 1989
