In the town of Cholpon-Ata, on the north bank of Lake Issyk-Kul, there is an open-air gallery with petroglyphs, paintings on the stones of antiquity. On the 42 hectare site of the museum there are thousands of stones with paintings depicting hunting scenes, everyday life and wars. These artifacts are at least 4000 years old.

To the west of Czołpon-Ata there is a place with prehistoric rock drawings - petroglyphs (from the 1st millennium BC - 5th century AD) and the remains of dinosaurs discovered in the area.

Two kilometers northeast of the town of Cholpon-Ata there is an archaeological site with around 2,000 petroglyphs, most of which date from the Scythian period (8th to 3rd century BC). 90% of the petroglyphs depict animals such as ibexes, horses and camels. The remaining drawings mostly depict hunting scenes. In addition to the petroglyphs, there are stone circles, burial mounds, remains of walls and stone sculptures to be seen there (Wikipedia).
