The Blekerheide is a nature reserve northwest of Lommel. It is one of the last remaining moorland areas in the vast municipality and is located a few kilometers north of the center.
The area is sandwiched between the Dutch border and the Bocholt-Herentals Canal. The plain covered with heather is for the most part surrounded by forests with scots pine, which were planted to supply stumps for the mines.
To the south of this area one can go with a long wooden foot bridge over the canal to the Lommel Sahara.translated by•December 19, 2019
