The Quinta Vigia once stood on the site of the statue. The young Empress Sissi resided here from the end of 1860 until her departure in the spring of 1861.
Oscar Niemeyer, the Brazilian star architect, had a bold hotel complex and casino built on this very spot a hundred years later.
As an act of reparation, the management of the Casino Parc Hotel put up the bronze Sissi statue.

Even if I personally find them kitschy and out of date: a pilgrimage destination for all Sissi Romy Schneider fans!
