The menu at the Schloss Thurnstein restaurant ranges from Mediterranean delicacies to Tyrolean specialities. The homemade desserts, cakes and strudel are also very popular with our guests.

In 1276, the castle was first mentioned as "Thurm Platzleid", the current name Thurnstein appears for the first time in 1478. Meinhard II. Count of Tyrol gave Konrad Milser "Thurm Platzleid" as a fief in 1282. The owners then changed constantly until the 17th century, when the von Egen family from Merano acquired the castle. This family also had the north wing added in the 18th century.
Thurnstein Castle is still managed today by the descendants of the von Egen family, and some rooms were converted into a restaurant after the end of World War I. Thurnstein Castle currently houses a hotel in the former farm building and a restaurant.
