In 1358, the Moravian margrave Johann Heinrich of Luxemburg had his sovereign seat, the so-called older castle, built 80 m above the river Thaya.
In the 15th century the castle Neuhäusel came into the ownership of the Eitzinger, the owner of Kaja. Neuhäusel was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War. After the First World War, the castle went to the Czech state.
From a viewing terrace you can enjoy an overwhelming panoramic view of the Thayatal.
The ruin can only be entered as part of a guided tour, where you can see from a viewing platform to the striking Thaya loop. Otherwise you get from the outside almost nothing to see, not even the Thaya.

Great castle ruins with an absolutely FANTASTIC view of the Thayatal, must see!
Admission costs 120 crowns or 5 euros, as a non-Czech speaker I received a detailed information folder to explore for myself instead of a guided tour.
For the great view you have to climb some steep stairs.
