Beautiful little waterfall, the water splashes down the limestone cascades before it reaches the barracks.

The Bärenthaler Kalktuff is a freshwater limestone, which is mined at the small community Bärenthal in the district Tuttlingen in Baden-Württemberg. Tufts are widespread in Baden-Württemberg and have been mined in many places. Most of the local lime deposits are exhausted today (2014). In the 1890s and 1930s, the tufa from the Bäratal was a commonly used building block in Baden-Württemberg. In Bäratal only a sideline mining of this natural stone is operated. The result is the Bärenthaler Kalktuff in the Holocene.
During the Holocene, calcareous calcareous spring waters formed this lime deposit when the calcium carbonate contained in it was precipitated and deposited. Even today, lime deposits on a slope, over which a waterfall flows.
The tufa formed a more than 700 meter long lenticular rock body. This tuff is in solid, loosened and in only partially solidified form. The thickness is 8 to 9 meters. The deposited layer, which is well-consolidated, is about 4 to 5 meters. In the Bäratal formerly there were several quarries.

April 2022: It is currently forbidden to enter the upper part of the cascades. The entire structure is very sensitive and can easily break, and the mosses necessary for the formation of tufa are very sensitive to foot traffic. But you can also admire and enjoy the beauty of this spot very well if you stay behind the barrier.
Once a video, above the water up to the barrier, filmed with a 3-meter selfie stick:

And again, with immersion in the water:
