Caín is the village located at the lowest altitude in the entire valley (460 meters), which is why it seems to be literally swallowed up by the Picos de Europa mountains and also the waters of the Cares River, overflowing in the form of streams and torrents, still give it More beauty if possible to the landscape that surrounds this small town.

A good turning point when walking along the gorge. Here you can stop in or have road connection again.

The small town at the end of the Ruta del Cares apparently lives largely from the hikers on Spain's most popular hiking trail, who strengthen themselves here in one of the restaurants before returning. Alternatively there is a small supermarket on the other side of the Cares. Nevertheless, the village with its small old church is beautiful to look at. If you book a room in Caín for the night before returning, you can add the Ruta del Cares up to the abandoned Caín de Arriba, the predecessor of today's Caín.
