A property from the 13th century, today with a hotel, brewery and restaurant.
The water mill is powered by the largest mill wheel in Europe.
August 17, 2019
The Wiesenmühle is a brewery with several dining areas, a large outdoor area, but also conference rooms and a hotel. You can test the Wiesenmühlenbier here at the end of a hiking tour. The great mill wheel is also worth seeing.

The mill, built by the Benedictine monastery in Fulda, was first mentioned in 1337. On October 17, 1803, the mill burned down completely after grease residue ignited. The mill and the farm buildings, which were still owned by the Fulda Monastery, were then rebuilt in their current form. Until the middle of the 19th century, the mill was run by feudal lords; it then became private property.
At the time of its construction, the undershot mill wheel was the largest water wheel of this type in Europe.
In today's home brewery, Wiesenmühlen beer is brewed all year round. Inside the mill building and in the guest rooms, some of the historical beams and stones with water level marks have been preserved. Today the Wiesenmühle is classified as a cultural monument of significant historical value.
