Road Cycling Highlight
The Sachsenbrücke is a bridge over the Elbe near Pirna and with a total length of 1,071.5 m it is the longest road bridge in the Free State of Saxony.
The structure is located west of Pirna at Elbe kilometer 35.62. It crosses the state road S 177 over the Elbe and to the left of the Elbe over the federal road 172, an industrial area and the tracks of the Elbe Valley Railway, and also to the right over the district road K8774. The bridge serves to bypass the city to the west and with the federal highway 172a as a feeder to the federal highway 17, which is why it is equipped with two lanes in each direction.
