GDR - Perleberg History Museum
In a historic building from around 1850, which once served as an artillery depot for the
Perleberg Uhlans (Imperial Army), then for the Wehrmacht and was misused as a concentration camp in 1933, the MAS (machine rental station),
MTS (machine tractor station) and polytechnic classes moved in after 1945
(students made large fuses for the subway, S-Bahn and tram in Berlin, Dresden and for the mining industry, among other things).
For decades the building (around 800 square meters) was a polytechnic center. Now, together with other buildings, it houses the Perleberg Documentation Center with the current working title "GDR History Museum".
The permanent exhibition was opened on October 7, 2006 with 10 rooms on the history of the GDR; currently, more than 30 rooms are accessible. ddr-museum-perleberg.de/seite/7436/chronik.html
