The numerous streams and ditches that run through the nature reserve are often up to 200 years old tree stands. The path meanders through a mixture of beech and oak forest. Especially in late autumn, this area exudes a mystical charm.

The creek rises as Vennbach east of Königshardt at an altitude of 64 m above sea level. NN. From here, the stream initially flows in a northerly direction. The Reinersbach flows to 400m south. With reaching the city of Bottrop the brook Ebersbach is called. Below the mouth of the Pötteringsbachs the run turns west. From here the stream is called Rotbach. A very nice hike. Never seen a stream with so many twists and turns. Really great. Very natural, half of the hike goes through untouched nature directly along the stream. Just great, our most beautiful hike so far.

Not quite as beautiful as the further course of the stream, but still wonderful to walk. There is something beautiful to see and discover everywhere when you hike with your eyes open and enjoy nature.

Are we still in the Ruhr area? This is what you ask yourself when hiking along the near-natural Rotbach. Shoes with a profile are sufficient for the flat path. However, it goes through some shallow streams and muddy places. There are also small trees on the way that have to be passed. Listen carefully, you might spot the woodpecker at work.

This path through the Rotbachtal is one of the most beautiful hiking trails along a stream that I have ever hiked. After rainy weather partly muddy, but you can always find some way to get further. However, sturdy shoes are a prerequisite, as you sometimes have to go through streams.
