Herzogstand-Grat

I was initially confused about the indications of the difficulty of this ridge. On the one hand "only for experienced", "difficult" on the other hand "not dangerous", ...
my conclusion: for me it was the first time on a ridge and a great experience. You shouldn't have a problem with height and you should be able to "climb" a bit, but ropes were attached to unwieldy places to hold on. Surefootedness is required but it is not particularly dangerous. Definitely recommended for the adventurous.

It is always great to walk this ridge path! You have the whole way over a great view to the south and north and the way is very varied, never boring.

Wonderful views on the ridge (but always on the way, it goes on both sides far down). At tricky places there's a steel rope. Unfortunately quite overcrowded.

Certainly one of the most beautiful routes in Munich's local mountains with all kinds of views in all directions (Walchenseee & Kochelsee, Karwendel & Rofan, up to the Wetterstein Mountains, with good visibility over Lake Starnberg and to Munich). Due to the easy access with the Herzogstandbahn, there is a lot of hustle and bustle here - you have to like it or ignore it. The difficulties are limited. Exposed passages are secured, there is no real scrambling.

You should definitely wear sturdy shoes and be sure-footed.

Beautiful ridge. Not difficult, but you should be sure-footed. Wire ropes are installed in some places, but it's not dangerous.

Tip from a layperson with a fear of heights (but who likes to face it): The ridge is not a Sunday walk, if you are not free from giddiness, you often get a bad feeling and wish for more ropes in some places. There are also some places where you have to climb or help with your hands.

Go early! So really early ...
From Ohlstadt up to Heimgarten, then over to the Herzogstand and then down on the old Pionierweg to Schlehdorf: suddenly there is no soul here.
Warning: on nice days the ridge is full as in the pedestrian zone. Also a bit "airy exposed" in some places
