On a part of the former coal-mining Diergardt (promotion from 1912 to 1973) a demanding park was built in 1982, on which traces of the former coal mine are still to be found (wall remainders). Due to a tornado on 18.07.2004, the PArk was badly damaged and was then redesigned with numerous donations and a lot of work of the authorities. A hand-drawn information board reminds of it.

Much of what my colleague DiDo wrote about the mines in Rheinhausen is correct. It is not easy to learn about our recent mining history. But many of the people who worked in the mining industry are still alive and we should be able to find out more. If in future generations a lot has been "flattened" by nature, then ..... 🤔🙄🤔. And what will do then ??? (Is there actually still the subject "Heimatkunde" in school? In any case, I still had it in elementary school, but then I was interested in other things and not in this "nonsense": Diergarth colliery and Mevissen colliery .... so interests and spirits change.
