The Reichswaldbrunnen was inaugurated on May 30, 1972. At the suggestion of the forest officer Heinz Becker, it was carved out of sandstone by the stonemason Rudolf Faschon from Kaiserslautern. The Kaiserslautern city coat of arms, the year of inauguration and the inscription “Reichswaldgenossenschaft Kaiserslautern” can be seen on the sandstone. The Reichswald was always a state forest and is now owned by the State of Rhineland-Palatinate.
