Vogelsang Castle is worth the effort though.

The history of this place is not nice, but the view and the buildings themselves are worth seeing.

The "Ordensburg" is worth a visit, if only because of its intimidating dimensions and the excellent exhibition on its history (Mon-Sun 10am-5pm). We also recommend Ms. Pfeifer's three rooms in the Vogelsang86 seminar house, a former "community house": Small double room for €50-70/night, but there is no breakfast.

Attention: Castle restaurant open Mon-Sun only from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Very good cake, but food only at snack level.

However, I warn against the ascent with pedelec and panniers, it is hardly manageable for older people and not without danger: My wife fell and broke her hand. It is better to spend the night in Schleiden and take the bus to the castle.
