In the middle of the forest area of the Hinsbecker Heide is the almost 29m high observation tower, which has developed into a popular excursion destination for young and old. From the top platform, which incidentally is 110m above sea level, you have a breathtaking view of the Krickenbeck lakes, the green areas of Nettetal and the neighboring Netherlands. On a clear day you can even see into the Ruhr area.
The wooden tower, originally built in 1970, was renovated in 2005 and a steel structure was added. The tower is accessible at all times. Parking spaces are located opposite the circus youth hostel in Hinsbeck.

View over the Krickenbeck lake landscape and the Lower Rhine
You should be free from giddiness if you want to climb the 28.8 meters of the observation tower. You will be rewarded for the ascent with a wonderful view of Schloss Krickenbeck in the middle of the four lakes and a distant view, which on clear days can even extend to Düsseldorf and Roermond The surrounding trees grew over his head for years, so the view was no longer sufficient for fire monitoring. The fire department switched to patrols.
The tower fell victim to arson and vandalism several times, so it was closed for several years. With the support of the very
active traffic and beautification association Hinsbeck it was finally rebuilt in double height.
But even for guests who prefer to stay on the ground, a trip to Hinsbeck is worthwhile. The landscape at the foot of the tower with fragrant pine forests, heathland and bogs can be enjoyed on a walk on one of the many hiking trails.
