The castle ruin Hochgalsaun is located in a dizzying height on a steeply sloping rocky spur above the fraction Galsaun the place Kastelbell-Chars.
It was built in the course of the 13th century by the then important Tyrolean noble family Montalban. After destruction and reconstruction in 1300 she went to the Lords of Schlandersberg before it was destroyed again in 1423 and then finally fell into ruin.
(Source: Burgenwelt.org)The legend tells of the siege by Duke Friedrich. The burgrave did not want to surrender, but his wife was granted by the besiegers the right to free deduction. In addition, she was allowed to take everything she could carry herself. Then she promptly shouldered the burgrave and carried him down to the valley. The story is also known from other places, but here again, "se non è vero, è ben trovato"
