Beautiful market square with old parish church, which serves both denominations (rk and ev). The power supply of the denominations is still separated today and will be switched according to the service. The market square will be dominated by the well-known old Martinsbrunnen and the "Zeel" from the present time.

The Biberach market square is one of the most beautiful market squares in southern Germany and was probably built in the 12th century. The magnificent town houses all around, the donkey monument by Peter Lenk and the market fountain are worth seeing. The knight figure on the market fountain holds the Biberach city coat of arms, which was created in 1488, in its left arm - the golden beaver on a blue background. Stroll through the weekly market on Wednesdays and Saturdays and enjoy regional products, delicacies and Swabian specialties!

The Lower Schranne was built in the 16th century as a storage and sales room and served as a granary.

The most powerful house on the market square is the "Haus Kleeblatt", named after the cloverleaf attached to the front of the house. This house dates from 1363 and served as the headquarters of the Biberach trading company Weißhaupt.

The sculpture of the donkey, created by the sculptor Peter Lenk, was financed with donations in 2000. C. M. Wieland's "Trial for the Donkey's Shadow" is embodied in the donkey relief. You can find more information in the brochure about the monument. If you want to follow Wieland's footsteps further through Biberach, you can use the Wieland Society's interactive map.
