The official source of the River Thames, only 374km to the sea...

The source of the River Thames is found in a remote Cotswold meadow on the edge of the village of Kemble. This spot marks the official start of the 184 mile (296 km) Thames Path.
The source of the Thames is a little difficult to find because it is in the middle of cultivated meadows. We had to take a little detour because there were huge combine harvesters driving right through the meadows. However, once you cross the field, you will find a fenced-in area where the spring is marked.
We were there in midsummer, so there was no water bubbling here. Another new experience: a spring without water.
