Malser Tor, Glurns
Glurns is located at the transition from Lower to Upper Vinschgau, at the entrance to the Münstertal. The only place in Vinschgau with city rights has a rarely well-preserved Renaissance city fortification from the 16th century with a closed city wall, seven round corner and wall towers (designed as shell towers - open inwards) and 3 gate towers (Münsterer or Tauferer Tor, Schludernser Tor [Spatzenturm] and Malser Tor).
All components have interesting structural details (covered battlements, embrasures, cast iron windows, gate guides).
The first city fortifications from the second half of the 13th century were demolished along with the city in 1499; only the Sparrow Tower remained largely intact.
The city wall separates the city into a so-called inner city and an outer city.
