The late Baroque, listed as a hall church was built in 1761 - 1772, after 1756 the older, dating from the 13th century smaller church was burned down. For a country church, it has quite unusual dimensions (38 m long, 16 m wide, tower height 40 m) and is therefore also called the "dome of the northern Waldviertel".

The historic vicarage was rebuilt one year after the fire under Rev. Trunzer.
