The world's largest playable cathedral organ is currently being restored and cannot be visited.The cathedral's interior is largely covered in scaffolding. The renovation is scheduled to be completed by 2026.The altar and the front part of the nave are open to the public.Perhaps also interesting is that there is "still" no admission charge to visit the cathedral.

The cathedral in Passau is always worth a visit. The Christmas market on the cathedral square is also very beautiful at Christmas time.
The organ in the Passau Cathedral is particularly worth mentioning. The organ has a total of 233 registers, 17,974 pipes and four chimes. Measured by the number of rows of pipes (333), the five organs together form the largest organ system in Europe and the fifth largest organ in the world.

St. Stephen's Cathedral is probably the most dominant point in the three-river city of Passau - more than just impressive! If you can, you should definitely plan a little time.
Not only the architecture of the historic building is impressive; there is a lot to discover and if you look behind the facade of this magnificent building, you will quickly realize that it is a very special place of power that is not without reason the beginning of the Bavarian Way of St. James ...
